Proposal to Adjust Validator Bond: Voting Now Live

Core Community, Your Vote Matters!

Validators are the backbone of the Core blockchain, dedicated to keeping the network secure, decentralized, and resistant to attacks. By staking CORE tokens as a bond, validators commit to upholding the integrity of the network.

A new governance proposal is live for community voting, designed to enhance Core’s network security, validator accountability, and long-term resilience.

What is the Validator Bond Adjustment Proposal?

This proposal suggests increasing the minimum validator bond requirement from 10,000 CORE to 500,000 CORE to:
:white_check_mark: Enhance economic security and discourage malicious behavior
:white_check_mark: Strengthen validator accountability and uptime commitments

Why Is This Change Being Proposed?

The Core blockchain continues to grow, and as it matures, the security of its validator set must evolve accordingly. Increasing the validator bond requirement serves several key purposes:

  • Stronger Network Security: A higher bond increases the financial risk for validators, discouraging malicious behavior. By requiring more capital at stake, validators are committed to acting in the network’s best interest.
  • Greater Validator Accountability: Validators with significant investments in the network are more likely to maintain high uptime, follow best security practices, and contribute positively to the ecosystem.

Who Will Be Affected?

  • Existing validators will be grandfathered in under the current 10,000 CORE bond.
  • If an existing validator goes offline and later attempts to rejoin, it must meet the new 500,000 CORE bond.
  • New validators and all future expansions must meet the updated requirement.
