The BTCfi Summer Hackathon 2024 has concluded, showcasing innovative solutions for Bitcoin integration in decentralized finance (DeFi) and the Core ecosystem. Out of 290+ registrations and 74 submissions, 10 projects made it to the final demo round, competing for a whopping $250,000 prize pool. After intense evaluation, the top 3 winners have emerged.

Hackathon Track: CoreBTC Innovations
RuneBridge connects Bitcoin and Core ecosystems, enabling seamless transfers of Bitcoin Runes to Core, paving the way for new DeFi applications.
2nd Place
Prize: $10,000
Project: OnchainVampireSurvivors
Hackathon Track: GameFi Applications on Core
An intense survival game with roguelite elements and in-game transactions. Players navigate a monster-filled world, collecting gold to improve their chances in future runs.
3rd Place
Prize: $5,000
Project: b14g Network
Hackathon Track: BTCFi Ecosystem Expansion
b14g enhances Core’s security and decentralization with Observer Nodes and Merge Staking, boosting the security and utility of BTC and CORE tokens.
In addition to their prize money, winners will receive the Core Starter Kit, having a potential value of $220,000. This comprehensive package includes cloud credits, cutting-edge development tools, discounts to infrastructure providers, and exclusive mentorship opportunities. Winners will also be featured in the BTCfi ecosystem newsletter, gain access to valuable DeFi partnerships, and become eligible for specialized airdrops focused on DeFi development.
