Scheduled Upgrade Timeline
- Mainnet Hardfork: 19th November 2024, 07:00 AM UTC
- Software Update Deadline: Please update to v1.0.12 by 18th November 2024
Overview
The Core mainnet is set to undergo the Fusion Upgrade, a critical hardfork scheduled for 19th November 2024. This upgrade introduces improved Bitcoin staking options and enhances scalability across the Core blockchain. Validators and full node operators must update to v1.0.12 by 18th November to maintain seamless network functionality and avoid interruptions.
Key Features Included in the Fusion Upgrade
-
BTC/CORE Dual Staking: A new dual staking feature allows BTC holders to maximize rewards by staking BTC alongside CORE tokens. The greater the ratio of CORE to BTC staked, the higher the yield on BTC stakes.
-
LstBTC on Core: An ERC-20 token pegged 1:1 with Bitcoin, LstBTC provides added liquidity for staked Bitcoin assets on the Core network.
-
Included Hardforks
- Berlin & London (Ethereum) – Activated at block height 19537200, approx—18th Nov 2024.
- Hertz (BNB Smart Chain) – Also expected around block height 19537200 on 18th Nov 2024.
- Shanghai (from Ethereum) – Expected activation on 19th Nov 2024, 07:00 AM UTC.
- Kepler (from BNB Smart Chain) – Expected activation on 19th Nov 2024, 07:00 AM UTC.
- Demeter (from Core) – Expected activation on 19th Nov 2024, 07:00 AM UTC.
- BNB Smart Chain v1.3.9 Merging – Improvements from versions up to v1.3.9 will be merged into Core for added scalability and performance.
Required Actions for Validators and Full Node Operators
To avoid disruptions and potential penalties:
- Update Software to v1.0.12 by 18th Nov 2024.
- Update config.toml: Use the latest version provided; older configurations are incompatible.
- Set Miner Address: Use
--miner.etherbase
to point to your consensus address. - Modify Transaction Lookup Flag: Use
-history.transactions
instead of-txlookuplimit
. - Re-enable Personal Module: Use
--rpc.enabledeprecatedpersonal
to restore the deprecated personal module.
Failure to upgrade by the scheduled time will lead to desynchronization, making your validator node unavailable on the upgraded network.
Key Changes for Developers and Users
